Achieving a 99 statistic in RuneScape may be hard at first glance. But with a bit of an optimistic view and a some good help, you can achieve it. Woodcutting itself is one of the longest skills to level to 99, because it's not buyable. Here is how to advance your level.
Steps
- Start on chopping down regular, or dead trees. Regular trees are found all over Runescape, while evergreens and dead trees are usually found in forests. You should have a bronze axe from Tutorial Island, however if you accidentally lost or dropped it, you can go to Bob's Axes in Lumbridge where you can buy more or any other axe lower than rune.
- Move to oak trees at level 15.
- Achieve a level of 30 before moving to willow trees. Willows are well known around Draynor and Edgeville (free play) or Seers Village (member). As a member, you may want to use willows for fire making, as the needs for maples and yews are high. If you are a low leveled free player, avoid Draynor since there are wizards that throw magic spells. However, there are 4 willows just east of Port Sarim which are rarely cut. Occasionally, there are autobots, but if you are not in a populated world, it is not a big worry. Also there are no dark wizards.
- Keep on the willows as these are the best XP per hour compared to the harder trees.
- The best way to achieve your goal of 99 woodcutting is to cut willows until 99. An alternate way of doing this is cutting yews when you reach 85 woodcutting, but if you really want 99 fast, cut willows.
Tips
- Woodcutting may seem like the most boring skill, but it's actually the easiest way to get money. Remember to have fun! After all, that is what the game is for.
- When cutting down high level logs, always sell them to other players - fletchers will buy these for crazy prices.
- Try to keep up with your axes. Buy the next advanced axe when you achieve the level to use them and sell your current one. Just remember that you need the matching attack level to wield it, for exaple level 40 for the rune hatchet and level 60 for the dragon hatchet.
- Woodcutting skill capes cost 99k (as do all skill capes).
- If you are bored, move onto another skill, invite a friend to cut trees with you, or join into conversations with other fellow cutters. Listen to music or watch TV while you're cutting, but beware of the "Warnings".
Warnings
- You will be attacked by Tree Spirits, Evil Chickens, goons, etc. so prepare for a battle or to run.
- Watch out for trees that move their branches and have red eyes. These are called Ents, and your axe will break if you attempt to chop them down. These are unpredictable random events, so keep your wits about you.
- Be sure to glance at the computer at least every 10 seconds because you could be being attacked right then!
